How your career advances depends entirely on your performance. At the end of each engagement and every six months, experienced consultants will evaluate your progress. This process is fair and conducted in a systematic way at all McKinsey offices worldwide. Our requirements for advancement are successful client work and regular contributions to building our knowledge base. In addition, we take into account your professionalism and personal development potential.
Depending on the level at which you will join McKinsey, you may be leading engagement teams within two to three years. By the fourth year, top performers are generally promoted to the position of Associate Principal, which allows them to share directly in the financial success of the firm. After the fifth or sixth year, they may be invited to share in the ownership of the firm as a partner.
As an Asia House member, in general, you are expected to stay 12 to 18 months at Asia House Frankfurt or Paris and afterwards transfer back to one of our offices in Asia. Once in Asia, you have the opportunities that all consultants do in terms of mobility: engagements mostly in Asia but also internationally, fixed-term office exchanges, as well as permanent relocation to another office, depending on your capabilities and the firm's needs.
