McKinsey's more than 80 offices worldwide form a truly global network. To enhance the value that this network can bring to our clients, we operate as a single firm. Our "one firm" principle means that we make no compromises to geography or industry. Wherever our clients are, they receive the same exacting quality of service and benefit from the same access to our management thinking.
Asia House has developed rapidly since its opening in the summer of 2004. Within the first 18 months, Asia House has grown to 50 consultants (with an additional 20 who have since finished the Asia House Program and returned to Asia). During this time, our consultant teams at this office have completed more than 200 engagements in 20 countries. These comprise a rich diversity of industries and functions, with key areas including chemicals, financial institutions, telecommunications, and automotives & assembly.
Our clients call upon us to help them address their most important challenges. As we build on our tradition of disciplined strategic thinking, we recognize the importance of fresh insights. Even our consultants with the most specialized functional or industry knowledge approach problems from an integrated, top-management perspective, taking into account the trade-offs that senior managers must accept.
Asia House collaborates closely with other McKinsey offices, industry practices, and functional practices. Next to its own dedicated Research and Information Group based in Düsseldorf, it relies on research and information provided by the firm's Asian offices. Furthermore, in partnership with McKinsey's Greater China Office, Asia House has established the China Sourcing Services Line (CSSL), which provides on-site assistance through tailored solutions for sourcing activities in collaboration with the China Sourcing Center, a team of dedicated knowledge and information specialists based in Shanghai. Also, Asia House now hosts one of the European hubs of the Global Private Equity Practice.
What is it like to work in Asia House on a daily basis? As with all McKinsey offices, a partner heads each of our consulting teams, plans the assignment, works closely with client management, and bears responsibility for the quality of the final result. Asia House consultants participate in every phase of the study: gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, developing and communicating our recommendations, and preparing for and assisting with implementation.
With a raised awareness of cross-cultural sensitivities, our consultants at Asia House support projects mainly in Europe and Asia, as well as in the Pacific Rim, the Middle East, and the Americas. During their time in Europe, our consultants work in mixed teams in English. With more and more clients interested in Asian markets, our consultants at Asia House are often the first points of contact, and engage as key experts on innovative problem-solving at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. |
